Warfield-Ruffatto Named Big 12 Outdoor T&F Athlete Of the Week

DALLAS-- Hannah Warfield-Ruffatto, a senior javelin thrower at the University of Colorado, was named the Big 12 Outdoor Track & Field Female Athlete of the Week, announced by the conference office. Warfield-Ruffatto shares the honor with Ashley Brown, a junior hurdler from Kansas. This is the first Big 12 Athlete of the Week honor for Warfield-Ruffatto.
The Sidney, Mont., native earned a personal record of 161-05 (49.21 meters) at the Potts Invitational on March 17 to earn a regional qualifying mark. Warfield-Ruffatto took second overall and her throw is currently the second best in the league and ninth in the nation. The mark was the third best throw in school history. Liz Lampros holds the top two marks of 169-05 and 162-10.
Warfield-Ruffatto also qualified for the USA Track & Field Outdoor Championships in June with the throw. She surpassed the necessary mark of 49.00 meters to automatically qualify for the championships.
At the Rob Upton Invitational on March 24, she took first in the javelin, recording a mark of 156-01 despite rainy and slippery conditions.
The Buffs are back in action this weekend, March 30-31. One group will head to the Stanford Invitational on March 30-31 and the other will stay in Colorado and head to the Tom Benich Invite in Greeley.
