Spikers Prep For Oklahoma And Iowa State

BOULDER ? The University of Colorado volleyball team is slated to face Oklahoma and Iowa State in this week's Big 12 action.
Oklahoma will host the Buffs on Wednesday, Oct. 15. The match will start at 5:30 p.m. MST. CU will host Iowa State on Saturday, Oct. 18. The contest is set for a 1 p.m. start due to a 5 p.m. start for the CU football game against Kansas State. Fans who show their football ticket will receive free admission.
The Sooners are 7-10 overall and are 3-6 in the Big 12. OU has a match in hand in the Big 12 standings as the Sooners have already played their two matches against Texas Tech due to Hurricane Ike at the beginning of the season. Both of those meetings were five-set wins for the Sooners.
OU's Chrissy Disarro ranks third in the Big 12 by averaging 1.23 bps. Lacy Barnes (3.88) and Bridget Laplante (3.09) rank seventh and ninth in the league in digs per set, respectively.
Colorado owns a 34-14 advantage in the all-time series against Oklahoma. The Buffs are 5-5 in the previous 10 meetings and have lost the last four straight. The last time CU defeated the Sooners was on Oct. 22, 2005 in Boulder.
Iowa State is sporting an 11-7 overall record and is 3-4 in the league standings. ISU will face Texas Tech at home before traveling to Boulder. The Cyclones have won the last two league matches against Oklahoma and Baylor after dropping four straight.
ISU's Jen Malcom ranks second in the Big 12 in blocks (1.29) and hitting percentage (.419). Kaylee Manns is second in the league with 11.46 assists per set. Victoria Henson ranks third in the Big 12 with 3.89 kps. Ashley Mass is the top passer in the conference with 5.06 dps.
The Buffs lead the all-time series against ISU by a 38-12 margin. Just as with OU, the Buffs are 5-5 in the past 10 contests and have lost the last four straight. The last time CU defeated ISU was on Oct. 26, 2005.
