DeMoor and Radlinski Named CU Athletes of the Week

BOULDER-- Cross Country's Seth DeMoor (senior) and soccer's Kirsten Radlinski (senior), were named University of Colorado Athletes of the Week for the week of October 20-26. This is the first award of the year and second of their careers for both DeMoor and Radlinski.
DeMoor, a Buena Vista, Colo. (Buena Vista) native, recorded his first collegiate first-place finish at the Air Force Open on the Eisenhower Golf Course. He finished the 8 kilometer race in 25:57.17. His time was almost a full minute in front of the second place finisher Scott Balcao of Air Force who finished with a time of 26:51.87. This was the last meet before the Buff's head to Ames, Iowa for the Big 12 championship meet on November 1.
Radlinski, a Placentia, Calif. (El Dorado) native, recorded two saves in a 3-0 win over Drake. The shutout marked fifth time this season that the opposition has been held off the scoreboard. Radlinski, and the Buffs played to a 2-1 loss to Texas A&M, keeping the Aggies scoreless for over 86 minuets before the finally recorded a goal. Radlinski tallied a season high seven saves in the hard fought effort.
Others nominated for this week's award were Amber Sutherland (volleyball), and Rachel Gioscia (cross country).
Volleyball: Amber Sutherland, Senior, Glenwood Springs, Colo.
Sutherland led CU to a 1-1 week with a loss against Missouri and a win over Texas Tech. Sutherland recorded a team-best 13 kills against both Missouri and 21 against Texas Tech (34 total). Sutherland a just missed a pair of double-doubles with eight digs against MU and nine vs. TTU. Sutherland helped CU come from behind to defeat TTU in Lubbock. It was the first road conference win of the season for the Buffs, their first since 2006 (10/25 vs. Texas A&M). On the week she averaged 4.25 kps, 2.12 dps, 0.38 bps, 4.44 pps and hit .214. Sutherland now ranks 10th on CU's all-time career kills chart with 1,076.
Women's Cross Country: Rachel Gioscia, Junior, Buena Vista, Colo.
Gioscia was the runner-up in the women's 6k race. She ran a time of 24:26.44. Gioscia finished over one minute ahead of the rest of the field. Phalen French (USAFA) was third with a mark of 25:42.07. Ashley Birger won the race in 23:59.32.
