Golfers In First After Day One At Wolfdancer

AUSTIN, Texas ? The University of Colorado women's golf team is currently in first place at the Texas State Challenge at Wolfdancer here Sunday.
The teams were unable to complete the second round and players will have anywhere between six and eight holes to complete Monday morning before starting the final round of the tournament.
“Once again, the freshmen are playing extremely well,” said head coach Anne Kelly. “This is probably the most difficult course that we've played all year and definitely the most tricky. It's been very challenging.”
After the completion of the first round, CU was in second place behind the University of Idaho, but the Buffs are currently ahead of the Vandals by two strokes halfway through round two.
On the individual side, the freshmen duo of Emily Childs and Emily Talley are tied for third place. Talley led the Buffs in the first round with a team-low 75, putting her in a tie for fifth place. She was four-over on the front nine, but rallied back to finish one-under on the back nine. Childs followed one stroke behind (75) and was tied for eighth after round one. Childs played consistent golf on the front nine with just one bogey, but after going six over at one point through 12 holes, she had to rebound with two birdies to get her back down to just four-over through the first 18.
“The course is playing really tough and the greens have been really difficult,” said Childs. “They were very quick and some holes have been really hard to putt. It's just a tough course overall; definitely the hardest we've played so far.”
Sophomore Stephanie Simich recorded a first round score of 75 and was tied for 14th after the first 18 holes. Junior Dominique Pytlewski had two unfortunate triple bogeys on the front nine of her first round, but she was able to bounce back and play the back nine one-over to give her a final score of 79.
Christine Kim, who had to battle through an illness, rounded out the scoring for the Buffs, carding an 85 in round one. Lone Buffalo senior Cierra Ko played as an individual in the tournament and was tied for 20th after round one with a 79.
“This is one course that you can't let up on for a second,” said Kelly. “We need to finish the second round strong tomorrow and just maintain our concentration for the whole day.”
“Tomorrow I just want to go out and finish my round strong and keep playing well,” said Childs. “I finished on a good roll today and I want to keep that up tomorrow.”
The second round will resume at 6:30 a.m. MDT Monday morning and the third round will begin shortly after. Fans can follow the action at www.golfstat.com.
