Colorado improves to 3-3, breaking a three-game losing streak in nonconference play. CU avoided losing three consecutive nonconference games at home for the first time in team history.

 

Colorado improves to 4-0 all-time against teams from the Southwestern Athletic Conference.

 

Colorado wins its ninth consecutive game in the month of December dating back to 2006. The Buffaloes were a perfect 7-0 in December last season.

 

Sophomore Brittany Spears continues her hot hand at home this season, especially in the first half. She scored 19 points in tonight's first half, tying a career best which she set Friday night against UMass.

Spears finished the game with 25 points and is now averaging 24.8 points at home this season and 21.3 overall

 

Spears notched her ninth career double-double and second this season (25 points, 12 rebounds). She had 24 points and 10 rebounds in the win over Colorado State.

 

Junior Bianca Smith continued her strong rebounding, playing the “4” spot in Colorado's 4-guard offense. Smith set a career-high with 12 rebounds, seven of which came in the first half. Smith has six or more rebounds in six of her last seven games dating back to last season. She entered this season with just a 1.7 per game rebounding average.

 

Spears had 12 rebounds and Smith had 12 to give CU two players with double-digit rebounds for the first time since the Buffaloes actually had three against Texas on Feb. 16, 2008 (Putnina-15, Spears-12, McFarland-10).

 

Freshman Alyssa Fressle had a career-high and team season-high eight assists. It's also the most since Susie Powers had 10 against Pepperdine on Jan. 4, 2008.

 

Senior Kara Richards recorded her sixth career 20-point game, and second of the season. Richards had a career-high 25 points against CSU. Richards' 10 field goals and 17 attempts were a season high. She has 80 points through six games (13.3 ppg) after scoring just 97 in 30 games in 2007-08.
