Colorado- Texas Tech Quotes
February 20, 2008 | Men's Basketball
Colorado Head Coach Jeff Bzdelik
GENERAL ?“I don't think I've ever had a team play that poorly defensively. First of all, give Texas Tech great credit, they respected the game and they played the game the way it's supposed to be played. They moved without the ball extremely hard and well. They looked for one another. They out-ran us. Defensively, they stayed disciplined to the game plan. Hopefully our players learned a great lesson in how to play the game because we really haven't played the game right all year. Am I embarrassed? Yes. But give credit to Texas Tech because they taught us a great lesson in how to play.”
ON EFFORT?“I can't coach effort and that's what frustrates me. It has to come from inside a person.”
Texas Tech Head Coach Pat Knight
GENERAL ? “Yeah, it's nice to get a road win. That's our first road win of the year. It's been something that's been bothering us all year. They've been giving me effort and I'm proud of their effort. They do too many ?casual' things?they make mistakes at crucial times.
ON BZDELIK'S OFFENSE AT AIR FORCE & CU?“They're trying to play the same type of basketball. He had great shooters at the Air Force and when he gets more shooters here his system will start clicking. When he has five shooters and his offense is clicking, it's a beautiful thing.”
ON RICHARD ROBY?“Roby's tough. He's had a heck of a career for four years. Anything my dad and I can do to help him get to the next level, we will. You always have to worry about Roby. I'm glad that he's graduating. The kid is a good player. Even with the coaching change, he's really bought into what Jeff's trying to do and he's had a great senior year.”
ON HALFTIME SPEECH?“I can't say that, but censored: I was tired of their casual ?bs.' We had a chance to get a road win and they were going to give it away. They finally acted like men, though. They got pissed off at me and responded in the second half.”
Richard Roby, Sr., G
ON THEIR DEFENSE - “We couldn't defend them, they were just getting easy basket after easy basket. We weren't communicating defensively it all started at the defensive end.”
ON REBOUNDING FROM A BAD GAME - “I have had bad games before. I know how to bounce back I am a senior; I wasn't too worried about it. At
ON TYING 3rd HIGHEST CAREER SCORER - “It's a great accomplishment, but I am here to win more than anything else. I am just looking forward to coming back and playing the game on Saturday.'
Marcus Hall, Sr., G
ON TEAM'S ENERGY - “We didn't have the energy as a team from start to finish. Luckily at half time we were still in the game. We still had a chance. We had a chance to correct what we didn't even have in the first half.”
GENERAL - “I tried to follow the game plan and play as hard as I can.”
John Roberson, Fr., G
ON KNIGHT'S HALFTIME SPEECH?“He came in there fired up and we really responded to him.”
ON HIS PLAYING?“I came in more relaxed and let the game come to me. It's my first Big 12 road win of my career.”
Alan Voskuil, Jr., G
ON WIN?“After that last loss we couldn't sit there and be mad, we had to go out and play. We owed Coach something?we've screwed up a few times we owed him this.”
ON SECOND-HALF GAME PLAN?“He just wanted us to come in and keep up the fast tempo. We did a better job of breaking them down.”
