Tennis Blanks Mizzou, 7-0 to Open Big 12 Play

BOULDER- The University of Colorado tennis team opened the Big 12 season with a 7-0 sweep of Missouri, Saturday afternoon at the Millennium Harvest House.

The win brings the Buffs to 3-6 overall and 1-0 in the Big 12, while the Tigers fall to 8-5 overall and 0-1 in the Big 12. CU has won two straight matches and has now won their last three meetings against the Tigers.

After winning three doubles points, the Buffs kept their momentum going claiming all six singles match ups in straight sets.

At No. 3 doubles, the duo of Abbie Probert and Gleisy Torres Torres have won four of their last five matches taking an 8-2 win. At No. 2, Melisa Esposito and Franziska Jendrian remained unbeaten (5-0) with an 8-5 win, and at No. 1, Camila Belassi and Monica Milewski claimed an 8-3 victory.

In singles, Torres Torres grabbed her 65th career victory with Veera Nurmi collecting her 64th.

Torres Torres moves into 17th place on the school's all-time victories list, followed by Nurmi in 18th, who won her fifth match in her last six outings.

Milewski clinched the team victory at the No. 1 singles slot with Esposito and Jendrian each claiming triumphs at the No. 5 and No. 6 slots. Milewski and Jendrian each won their 50th singles victory.

Colorado continues their four-match homestand hosting Yale on Mar. 11 at the Millennium Harvest House. First serve begins at 2 p.m.
