The victory is the third straight for the Buffaloes and improves their conference record to 7-3 and evens their overall record at 10-10. OU drops its third of four matches and falls to 10-10 and 3-6 in the conference.
The No. 59 nationally ranked Buffaloes took two of three doubles points securing the point, then added all six singles slots for its first sweep of the Sooners since the 1986 season. The 7-0 sweep is the seventh time CU has blanked its opponent this spring, the most of any CU team since the 1994 squad also blanked seven opponents.
In doubles, the Buffs earned the doubles point at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively with Melisa Esposito/Franziska Jendrian winning their third straight and 12th victory of the year; and at No. 3, the tandem of Abbie Probert/Gleisy Torres Torres also won their third straight match and a team-high 15th win.
With a 1-0 lead, the visitors rolled out to a quick 5-0 advantage with straight set wins at the No. 2, No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 slots.
Veera Nurmi clinched the second point with a straight set win over Elena Antakova, 6-3, 6-1 at No. 4 for her fourth consecutive victory and her 27th Big 12 triumph ranking second all-time in school history. Esposito followed at No. 5 for another point defeating Christi Baxley, 6-1, 6-0 for her third win in a row, and Jendrian clinched the team victory sweeping Tara Eckel, 6-3, 6-2 at No. 6. Jendrian tallied her 21st win of the year and fourth in a row.
CU added another singles point with Camila Belassi defeating Chelsea Orr, 6-4, 6-4. Belassi equaled her 11th win at No. 2 for the second straight season.
Torres Torres and Monica Milewski rounded out the scoring edging their opponents in three sets. Torres Torres defeated Maria Kalashnikova, 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (9) at No. 3, while Milewski upset the nation's No. 101st ranked player, Ana-Maria Constantinescu 6-4, 4-6, 1-0(7).
Torres Torres won her 25th conference match, tying for third all-time, and Milewski defeated a nationally opponent for the first time at No. 1 singles slot this spring season.
Nurmi and Torres Torres also recorded their 72nd career victory each moving into a 12th place tie on the school's all-time wins list. In Big 12 Conference play, Jendrian and Milewski recorded their eighth win of the spring, while Belassi and Torres Torres achieved their seventh.
CU closes the conference regular season Sunday, April 20 against No. 61 Oklahoma State for a 9 a.m. start.
