Men's Track & Field Team Ranked 16

NEW ORLEANS - The University of Colorado men's track and field team moved up to 16 in the USTFCCCA rankings.

 

LSU is the top ranked team with 285.01 points and Florida State is second with 268.80. The Buffs have 124.63 points.

 

The Buffs were ranked 21 to start the outdoor season, but dropped out of the top 25 for the last three weeks. CU moved up 15 positions from last week's rankings.

 

The Buffs added five new marks over the last weekend to make the jump. Billy Nelson's run in the 3,000-meter steeplechase ranks second in the nation. CU added three top 25 marks in the 5,000-meter run with Kenyon Neuman (10), Richard Medina (11) and Matt Tebo (21). Jeremy Dodson added a mark in the 200-meter dash (18).

 

Colorado's remaining points come from Stephen Pifer (1,500-meter and 5k), Pete Janson (3,000-meter steeplechase), Chris Pannone (10k), Neuman (1,500m), Brent Vaughn (1,500m), James Begley (discus) and its 4x100-meter relay.

 

CU will host the 2008 Big 12 Track & Field Championships May 16-18 at Potts Field. There are five Big 12 men's teams that are ranked in the top 25.
