Buffs Close Out Season At NCAA Championships

EUGENE, Ore. – Colorado track and field closed out its 2026 season on Thursday at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Hayward Field.

Avery Pearson competed in the women's 800m semifinal, running a time of 2:02.94 to place 20th overall. 

Later in the evening, Abbey Nechanicky finished 21st in the women's 10k with a time of 33:10.06.

"We are continuing to get more athletes to the NCAA Outdoor Championships and are excited to keep building on that each year," head coach Sean Carlson said. "I am very proud of Abbey, Avery, Kole and Danny for representing Colorado to the best of their ability. They all competed hard and continued to improve throughout the season."

The NCAA Championships marked the conclusion of the 2026 outdoor season for the Buffaloes. 

Colorado qualified four athletes for the national meet, including Nechanicky (10k), Pearson (800m), Kole Mathison (3k steeplechase) and Danny Tragarz (400m hurdles).
