Women's Golf 12th at Big 12 Championship
April 25, 2008 | Women's Golf
Sophomore Dominique Pytlewski followed closely behind with a first round total of 88 and she currently sits in a tie for 48th place. Pytlewski kicked off the tournament with a birdie on her first hole, but she had a pair of triple-bogeys on the back nine that kept her from having the first round showing that she would have liked.
Freshman Stephanie Simich was eight-over through her first nine holes and opened the front nine with back-to-back birdies, but she was unable to keep that momentum as she finished 17-over and tied for 51st place (89).
Junior Cierra Ko rounded out the scoring for the Buffs, as she finished with a first-round total of 91, good for 55th place individually.
“We're a very young and inexperienced team that doesn't quite know how to handle a challenging situation,” said Kelly. “This was not the first day performance that we expected and we will look to stay tough and rebound tomorrow and Sunday in order to finish out the tournament strong.”
The 2008 Big 12 Women's Golf Championship will resume Saturday morning as the teams continue to battle it out during the second round of play. CU golf fans can follow the action and check the CU tee times for Saturday's action at www.golfstat.com.
