Men's Track & Field Team Ranked 12
May 07, 2008 | Track and Field
NEW ORLEANS - The University of Colorado men's track and field team rose to 12 in the USTFCCCA rankings released on Wednesday.
Texas A&M moved up from second to first this week with 260.93 points. Florida moved up two positions to second place with 248.00 points. The Buffs climbed seven spots from 19 last week to 12 with 107.97 points.
Colorado's rise in the rankings was largely due to Brent Vaughn's performance in the 5,000-meter run on Sunday night at Stanford. Vaughn recorded the top collegiate mark at 13:18.46, which is an Olympic ?A' standard. It is currently the fourth fastest time in the world. The mark was also a CU school record.
Four Big 12 schools are in the top 15. Besides Texas A&M and CU, Texas is 10th and Baylor is 11th.
The Buffs are off this weekend but will be back in action next weekend as they will host the 2008 Big 12 Conference Championship on May 16-18 in Boulder. For more information, please go to www.cubuffs.com.
