April 01, 2009 | Football
BOULDER ' After the first day of spring practice was in the books on Tuesday, CUBuffs.com took a survey of 55 University of Colorado football players to see who they picked to win it all on the hardwood during this weekend's Final Four.
North Carolina turned out to be the majority of the votes with 43 percent while both Connecticut and Michigan State turned out 24 percent of the vote and Villanova nine percent. The results are similar to a national poll run by ESPN.com. With 385,000 votes on ESPN.com, 51 percent picked North Carolina, 21 percent Connecticut, 15 percent Michigan State and 13 percent Villanova.
CU's Charles Johnson sat down with quarterback Matt Ballenger, tight end Patrick Devenny and cornerback Jimmy Smith to debate who will win. Johnson, a Detroit native, took the close by pick of the Spartans. Ballenger argued that North Carolina would win it all, Smith choose Connecticut and Devenny thinks Villanova will cut down the nets Monday.
The Buffs resume spring practice Thursday with the second of 15 sessions at 4 p.m.
