Culpepper To Be Inducted Into Hall of Fame

BOULDER - Former University of Colorado track and field standout Alan Culpepper will be inducted into the Colorado Running Hall of Fame Wednesday night at the Denver Athletic Club.
Culpepper was a seven-time All-American while competing at CU. He earned three of those honors in cross country (1993, 94 and 95). His first honor on the track was in 1994 in the 1,500-meter run. 1996 was a great year for Culpepper. He was a two-time All-American during the indoor season in the mile and 3,000-meter run and capped off the outdoor season by winning the 5,000-meter run.
Since leaving the CU program, Culpepper has had a successful professional career. He has represented the U.S. on two occasions at the Olympic Games. In 2000 he placed 17th in the 10,000-meter run. He switched to the marathon in 2004 and finished 12th after winning the U.S. Trials.
Other members of the 2008 class include Benji Durden, Stan Mavis, Maureen Custy-Roben, Creigh Kelley, Kim Jones and Rich Castro.
