Colorado, Missouri Notes

January 09, 2010 | Women's Basketball

With the win Colorado improves to 11-3 and equals its win total for the entire 2008-09 season (11-18).

Colorado improves its all-time record against Missouri to 39-27. The 39 wins against the Tigers tie the Nebraska series as the most wins against one opponent in team history.

Colorado improves to 7-7 overall in Big 12 openers and 21-15 in all-time conference openers (including Big 8 and Intermountain). CU is 6-8 in Big 12 home openers and 4-4 when opening the overall league season at home.

Missouri's 15 halftime points were the fewest by a Colorado Big 12 opponent since Kansas had just 14 on Feb. 5, 2003 (CU led 42-14).

CU's 17-point halftime lead was its largest in Big 12 play since leading Iowa State by 24 (48-24) on Jan. 10, 2007.

Colorado had 11 steals against Missouri, giving the Buffs double-digit steals in nine of 14 games this season. CU had only five games with double-digit steals in 2008-09. The nine games of double-digit steals are the most in a season since the Buffaloes had 12 in 2003-04.

Colorado was a season-low 1-of-11 from 3-point range. Dunn's late 3-pointer allowed the Buffaloes to extend their streak of consecutive games with a 3-pointer to 150. The last time CU didn't hit a 3-pointer was against Missouri on Jan. 18, 2005 (0-of-8) a game the Buffaloes still won 56-51.

Senior Courtney Dunn scored 12 points, setting a career high against a Big 12 opponent. Her previous best was nine against Kansas on Feb. 24, 2007. She also matched an overall career high with eight rebounds, a number she's achieved three times this season.

Junior Brittany Spears became the 13th player in team history to reach 600 career rebounds. She also moved up on several other lists. She is now 13th in steals (146), 15th in field goals made (469) and 15th in scoring (1,275).

Freshman Chucky Jeffery matched a career best with five steals, a number she has reached the last two games and three times overall. She is averaging 15.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 6.5 assists and 5 steals over the last two contests.
