Women's Golf Resumes Spring Season At Spartan Invitational

SAN JOSE, Calif. - The University of Colorado women's golf team is back in action early this week, as the Buffaloes are in San Jose, Calif., for the 2010 Juli Inkster Spartan Invitational here at the par-72, 6,223-yard Almaden Country Club course.Â
The Buffs are ranked No. 62 in the nation by Golfweek and No. 64 by GolfStat. The Buffaloes will be represented by freshman Taylor Doyle, seniors Christine Kim and Julie Kim, junior Stephanie Simich and sophomore Emily Talley.Â
This will be the sixth time the Buffs have participated in the Spartan Invitational, and the Buffs have had some success in the event. CU finished second in 2007 and seventh in 2008. In 2007, three Buffs finished in the top 10 including Julie Kim (career best third place) and Dominique Pytlewski and Lindsay Caljouw (both tied for eighth place).Â
The 54-hole Juli Inkster Spartan Invitational runs Monday and Tuesday (March 8-9) and is hosted by San Jose State. The first round will begin Monday at 7 a.m. MST in a shotgun start with the second round id slated to begin at Monday at 12 noon MST. The final round will begin Tuesday at 7 a.m.
Competing schools include CU, the host institution and No. 12 California, No. 22 Oklahoma State, No. 25 UC Davis, No. 36 UC Irvine, No. 42 San Francisco, Colorado State, Fresno State, Gonzaga, Hawai'i, Long Beach State, Nevada, Oklahoma, San Diego State and Santa Clara.
