Kelly Adds Wallace To Women?s Golf Roster

BOULDER-University of Colorado women's golf coach Anne Kelly announced Monday that Jessica Wallace, who just finished her sophomore season at Pepperdine, will transfer to the University of Colorado to continue her athletic and academic career.
Wallace capped her sophomore season this past weekend by finishing tied for 21st at the NCAA Championships. After getting off to a rough start and shooting 78 in the first round, she rebounded to shoot 4-under par the next three rounds, including a 5-under par 68 in the third round when she had six birdies on the front nine.
"Jessica Wallace brings a ton of positive tournament experience to CU," Kelly said. "She is a dedicated student-athlete who is committed to working and continually improving her game. I'm very pleased she chose to come to Colorado. She is a great player and a first-class young woman. She will help the Buffs reach a new standard of excellence."
The Langley, British Columbia, native finished the 2010 season ranked the No. 77 player in the country by Golf Week and No. 78 by GolfStat. In 21 career events and 64 rounds, she has compiled a career stroke average of 75.30, has four rounds in the 60s and 10 total rounds under par with two top five and four top 10 finishes.
She will become the sixth player in CU history from Canada and played junior golf in Canada with 2010 graduates Dominique Pytlewski and Julie Kim in the Vancouver area.
"I chose Colorado because I really believe in the coaching staff," Wallace said. "I believe they will make me a better golfer. I also like Colorado a lot; it reminds me of being home."
As a sophomore at Pepperdine, Wallace had a stroke average of 74.94 in 31 rounds with three rounds in the 60s and six rounds under par. She had one top five finish, finishing a career-best third at the West Coast Conference Championships, and two top 10 finishes, earning first-team All-WCC honors for the second straight season.
She earned WCC Commissioner's Honor Roll silver honors her freshman season when she again earned All-WCC first team honors with a stroke average of 75.64. She had four rounds under par, including one in the 60s, and took nine place at the WCC Championships. In her first collegiate action, she finished tied for 16th at the Dick McGuire Invitational. At the NCAA West Regional, she shot a final round 69 that was key in Pepperdine making the NCAA Championships, which they did by a single stroke.
As a junior golfer in Canada, she was twice an AJGA Rolex Junior All-American and twice won the British Columbia Junior Girls Championship in 2006 and '07. She was ranked as high as No. 10 in the AJGA Polo Golf Rankings and Golfweek's Junior Rankings listed her as the No. 15 player headed into collegiate golf.
A 2008 graduate of Walnut Grove Secondary school in Langley, British Columbia, Wallace was born in Vancouver. She was a four-year honor roll member in high school. Her brother, Darren, is on the golf team at Washington and her father, Darryl, played soccer at Tulsa. She is half-Korean and her middle name, Chungme, translates to Rose.
Wallace joins three California high school athletes who will be new to the 2010-11 squad as twins Jenny and Kristin Coleman and Tessa The all signed national letters of intent in November. The quartet will help fill the void left by three departing seniors, Christine Kim, Julie Kim and Pytlewski, who all rank in the top 10 in CU history in stroke average and for most rounds played.
