QUICKLY Washington now leads the series 6-5-1 (3-3-1 in Seattle; the teams have traded three straight wins and UW has pulled ahead for the first time since 1985)...CU wound up selling 1,750 tickets to the game and counting the player comps, moved 2,000 overall.(this time a year ago, and with a 3-1 team off a 29-27 win over Georgia, CU moved under 300 for a game at Missouri)...Colorado won the coin toss for the sixth time in seven games (deferring all six times; lost the toss only at Ohio State)...The Buffs scored on their first possession for the first time in 2011 (last doing so with a field goal versus Iowa State last November, nine games ago) ...The opponent has scored on the third of seven opening possessions including today...CU has scored on four of seven second half staring drives (all TDs)... Washington's 209 yards in the first quarter was an opponent season-high for any quarter...UW's 38 points in the first half were the most in a half against CU since last Nov. 6, when KU scored 45 in the second half in a 52-45 win; it was the most points against CU in the first half since the 2005 Big 12 Championship game when Texas led 42-3...This was the highest scoring game in the series (76 points), eclipsing the 1989 game here (a 45-28 CU win; UW's 52 points were the most by either team, topping the Husky total in a 46-0 win here in 1915)...Of the 63 healthy players on the trip, 53 saw action tonight...Injuries taking their toll is showing up on defense: Washington had 562 yards today, Stanford 553 last week; the last time CU surrendered 500-plus yards in back-to-back games was in 1983 (three straight: 609 by Nebraska, 524 by Oklahoma State, 531 by Kansas)...Colorado ran 65 plays in the game, the sixth time in seven the Buffs have had 66 or fewer (exception: 82 vs. Cal). CU is averaging just 63.6 offensive plays per game for the season...Colorado has now lost 21 straight road games (22 straight out-of-state including one neutral site-the '07 Independence Bowl).
INDIVIDUAL LINER NOTES
TB Tony Jones (14-49, 2 TD) scored his first career touchdowns by rushing (previously had one receiving, last week at Stanford). He also had his career long rush of 38 yards. He also caught a career best seven passes for 49 yards and had 121 all-purpose yards.
PK Will Oliver is now 9-of-12 in field goals, including 5-of-6 from 40 or more yards; the average distance of those makes has been 39.6 yards.
DE Chidera Uzo-Diribe now has a team best 4? quarterback sacks, and has three forced fumbles-the most by a Buff since CB Clyde Surrell had three in 2003.
QB Tyler Hansen moved past Mike Moschetti (1998-99; 4,867) into seventh in career total offense with 4,893 yards.
BIRTHDAY RESULTS Coach Jon Embree celebrated his 46th birthday today; he is now 3-3 on the day he entered the world: he won one birthday game as a prep at Cherry Creek; as a CU player in 1983, he lost 22-10 at Iowa State (he did catch a pass for 19 yards); as an assistant coach at Colorado in 1994, the Buffs throttled Oklahoma in Boulder, 45-7; in 2005, as an assistant at UCLA, the Bruins won an overtime thriller at Washington State, 44-41; and as an assistant with the Kansas City Chiefs, he lost at Pittsburgh, 45-7.
COLORADO INJURIES TB Rodney Stewart (sprained knee), ILB Douglas Rippy (leg); status for both for Oregon to be determined. OLB Josh Hartigan has been nursing a stinger and previously been playing with it but was held out today.
