Tennis Falls to Cornhuskers 7-0

Due to bad weather moving into the area, today's contest began with singles play. Colorado (3-17, 0-10 Big 12) was forced to default a singles match and two doubles matches because of injuries marking the first time in head coach Nicole Kenneally's 12 years at CU that she has had to do so. The No. 38 Cornhuskers improved their record to 18-6 and 6-4 in Big 12 play.
Despite dropping its 14th straight match in 2011, Colorado holds an 18-17 edge in the all-time series with NU, but Nebraska leads in Big 12 play (9-8) and the series is tied 4-4 in Boulder.
"I'm extremely proud of this group," Kenneally said. "They continue to come out and represent the Colorado Buffaloes. We may not have liked the outcomes (this season), but I know they kept their heads high and gave everything they were capable of giving."
Kristina Schleich was able to play at No. 1 singles, but later had to sit out her doubles match due to injury giving the Cornhuskers one of the two wins by default in doubles play. CU picked up a win in doubles competition as NU forfeited because of travel reasons.
CU played today without junior Michala Hedelund Jensen (injury) and freshman Winde Janssens (family).
Colorado will wrap up regular season play at No. 73 Missouri Saturday, April 23 at 9 a.m. MST.
