Colorado-Arizona State Notes

January 19, 2012 | Women's Basketball

Arizona State claims its first ever win over Colorado. The Buffaloes lead the series 9-1 as the series resumed for the first time since December 1987.

Colorado's previous low scoring half was 10 in the second half of a game at Texas Tech on Jan. 17, 1998. CU's previous first half low was 12 set at Texas on Jan. 17, 2009. The previous half shooting low was 14.3 percent set twice and most recently in a 3-of-21 performance at Iowa State on Feb. 19, 2011. Colorado's three field goals in the first half ties a record low, established most recently in that same Iowa State game.

CU's deficit of 33 points at halftime (42-9) was its third largest in team history. CU's 43 points for the game was its lowest since a 59-41 loss to Iowa State in the 2010 Big 12 Championship first round.

Colorado failed to have a player score in double digits for the first time since a 76-42 loss at Baylor on Feb. 6, 2010, in which Brittany Spears and Courtney Dunn shared the team scoring lead with 9 points apiece.

Colorado went with the starting combination of the Wilson twins (Ashley & Brittany), Chucky Jeffery, Julie Seabrook and Rachel Hargis for the first time this season. The Wilson's replaced Lexy Kresl & Meagan Malcolm-Peck who has started with the other three for the previous nine games.

Chucky Jeffery had two blocked shots, moving into a four-way tie for 17th place on CU's all-time list with 48.

Brittany Wilson's 3-pointer to begin the second half gave her 48 in her career, moving into a tie with former teammate Britney Blythe (2007-11) for 20th on CU's all-time list.

Jen Reese is averaging 7.0 points and 6.5 rebounds while shooting 55 percent 18-of-33 in Pac-12 games.
