Sprinters Start Strong at Husky Classic

SEATTLE - The University of Colorado's sprinters had a good showing in the 200-meter dash on Friday during the first day of the Flotrack Husky Classic.
Junior Joe Morris led the men, placing fourth overall. He finished the top section in 21.95 seconds, third in the heat. Sophomore Shaw Gifford placed sixth overall. He clocked a time of 22.00 and was second in his section. Junior Kyle MacIntosh placed 13th at the meet, finishing second in his heat with a time of 22.24. Former CU standout Jeremy Dodson won the meet in 21.26.
Freshman Eileen Gehring was the top CU female and placed fourth after crossing the finish in 24.89, winning the sixth section of the race. Freshman Lindsy Mattson was 12th overall, but won the fourth section with a time of 25.37. Freshman Bridget Sweeney was second in the same heat, placing 13th overall in 25.42. Noelle Montcalm won the meet in 24.34.
The Buffs were also in action at the U.S. Air Force Academy. Mark Jones was the top performer for the Buffs, taking second place in the high jump at the Air Force Invitational. Jones cleared 6 feet, 10.75 inches, finishing behind Western State's Oliver Harsanyi who cleared 7-05.
