Hajkova Wins National Weekly Honor

BOULDER - Senior cross country skier Eliska Hajkova has been named one of six CollegeSports360 National Primetime Pacesetters of the Week, spanning all of Division I, for her performance in Alaska at the UAA and Seawolf Invitationals.
Hajkova won three of the four cross country races spanning the week-long trip and two meets on the week. She opened the week by winning the 5K classical race as part of the UAA Invitational and then two days later finished second in the 5K freestyle race as part of that meet. After a couple of training and rest days, the Seawolf Invitational began and she won both races there, sweeping the 5K freestyle and 15K classical races, earning her second career sweep of races within an invitational. She has now won nine career races for CU.
Sophomore Rune Oedegaard also made the Primetime Peformer's Weekly Honor Roll after he won a race, finished second in two others and third in the final race in Alaska. He won the 20K mass start classical race on the final day, which is the only race that was run at the same length and start as the races at NCAAs in March.
For each sport, an initial list of athletes is considered on the honor roll for Primetime Performer of the Week. Each sport has one Primetime Performer chosen each week they're in action nationally. Once selected Primetime Performer of the Week, which Hajkov was for women's skiing, a select few from that list are further honored with Pacesetter of the Week. The CU ski team returns to action Wednesday with two alpine qualifier races ahead of the RMISA Championships, which will run through next Saturday and serve as NCAA Western Regionals, the last competition before NCAA Championships, set for March 7-10 in Bozeman, Mont.
