March 09, 2012 | Track and Field
NAMPA, Idaho - University of Colorado junior Joe Morris placed 15th overall in the 60-meter dash on Friday night at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships.
Morris finished the preliminary round in 6.66 seconds and tied with Auburn's Marcus Rowland. He got out of the blocks quickly, taking the lead in the second heat; but wasn't able to hang on as he fell to fifth by the end of the race. Reggie Dixon (Hampton) won Morris' section in 6.60 and Florida's Jeff Demps had the best time of the prelims at 6.52.
"I'm proud of Joe's performance this season," assistant coach Drew Morano said. "He ran well to get to nationals after a great performance last Friday. He was injured early this season and worked hard to get himself back to this position. This was a really fast group of runners, most likely one of the best ever at NCAAs. He did a good job and now we will switch gears and focus on the outdoor season."
