Colorado-Colorado State Notes
November 12, 2013 | Women's Basketball
Colorado improves its winning streak in non-conference regular season games to 25.
Colorado improves its all-time record against Colorado State to 34-11 and has won the last four. It's also Colorado's longest winning streak against CSU since the Buffaloes won five in a row from 1985-89.
Colorado head coach Linda Lappe wins her 65th game at Colorado, tying her with Kathy McConnell-Miller (2005-10) for the third most wins in program history. She trails only legendary head coach Ceal Barry, who won 427 from 1983-05 and Russell “Sox” Walseth who won 77 from 1980-83.
Colorado has won 19 of its last 29 true road contests and overall are 23-12 away from Boulder dating back to the tail end of the 2010-11 season.
Colorado improves to 35-5 in all-time openers and has won 14 straight. The Buffaloes also move to 6-4 in overall season openers on the road.
Junior guard Jasmine Sborov scored a career-high 13 points, logging the fourth double-figure scoring game of her career. She passed her previous best of 11 set last season at Illinois (12/1/12). Sborov scored 10 of those points in the second half which included the first six of the period and then two clutch free throws that gave Colorado a 62-59 lead with 27 seconds left. Sborov's six early second-half points came in a span of 1:58. She scored less than six points in 26 of 30 games in 2012-13.
Junior Lexy Kresl led Colorado and set a career-high with nine rebounds. She had eight rebounds in the first half alone, a number which matched her previous overall game-high coming as a freshman against California in the 2012 Pac-12 Tournament.
Freshman Zoe Beard-Fails was the lone first-year player to make her collegiate debut scoring five points and grabbing two rebounds in a two-minute span in the first half.
Sophomore Arielle Roberson tied for the team lead with 13 points, the 24th double-figure scoring game of her career.
