Colorado-Washington Notes

January 19, 2014 | Women's Basketball

Colorado has lost four straight for the first time since losing five in a row from Feb. 11 through Mar. 1, 2012, the Buffaloes first season of Pac-12 play.

Colorado was outrebounded by Washington 45-33. The Buffaloes dropped to 0-6 win losing the battle of the boards. CU is 11-0 this season when holding the advantage on the glass.

Colorado gave up at least 70 points for the third straight game. The Buffaloes had only allowed 70 points once in the previous 46 games prior to this three-game streak.

Washington narrows Colorado's lead in the series to 8-4, snapping a two-game Buffaloes win streak. The Huskies have won both regular season Pac-12 games played on their home court since CU joined the conference in 2011-12.

Washington's 38 free-throws made was a Colorado opponent record, surpassing the old mark of 36 made by Utah on Feb. 13, 1981. Kelsey Plum's 18 free throws made set a CU opponent individual record, moving past Angela Tisdale who made 17 for Baylor on Feb. 27, 2008.

Buffs used their seventh different starting lineup this year with Brittany and Ashley Wilson, Jen Reese, Arielle Roberson and Haley Smith.

Brittany Wilson was 8-of-9 from the free-throw line and has made 14 of 15 over the last three games (.933).  With 16 points, she recorded her 46th career double-figure scoring game which ranks 26th on CU's all-time list.

Arielle Roberson finished with 20 points, her third 20-point effort of the season and the fifth of her career. She is averaging 18.3 points over the last four games.

Haley Smith led Colorado with a career-high seven rebounds. Her previous best was 5 against south Alabama, and she only had 12 in her first 14 games.
