Bokhua Reaches Main Draw Singles Final

DENTON, Texas – University of Colorado freshman Tina Bokhua earned a spot in the Green Singles Main Draw finals, while junior Alexandra Aiello and sophomore Nuria Ormeño Ruiz each won consolation singles matches on day two of the Wild West Shootout, Saturday at North Texas University.
CU is one of six schools participating in the three-day invitational featuring schools from the host Mean Green, Air Force, North Texas College State, Stephen F. Austin, and UT Arlington.
“We had another disappointing day in doubles,” said assistant tennis coach Blake Mosley of the Buffaloes 0-2 performance on the day. “But, I'm proud of the girls as they battled back and won three out of four singles. We are excited for Tina to compete in her first college tournament final tomorrow.”
Bokhua won her second match in as many days, defeating Angeles del los Rios of UT Arlington, 6-2, 2-6, 6-4. Bokhua improves to 4-1 this fall season, winning her fourth straight match and first three set match of her young collegiate career. She will play UT-Arlington's Elizabeth Thoms in Sunday's final.
In consolation singles matches, Aiello won her fourth fall match and 23rd career with a straight set winner over Air Force's Lily Forlini, 6-4, 7-5. Aiello has now won three of her last four matches. Ormeño Ruiz also picked up a win, defeating Amy Leiu of North Texas State College, 6-0, 6-0. It was Ormeño Ruiz' third win of the fall campaign and her 23rd career tally.
Sunday is the final day of play and will begin at 10 a.m. (central time).
