Buffs Stampede in California

AZUSA, Calif. – The Buffs took California by storm on Wednesday and Thursday as the throws team and the combined events athletes made statements in their respective events at the Mt. SAC Relays and the Bryan Clay Invitational.
Emily Hunsucker recorded her fourth first place finish of the season in the hammer throw at the Bryan Clay Invitational on Thursday, recording a mark of 205-03. In addition, Alex Kizirian recorded a second place finish in the hammer throw with a mark of 190-10.
Courtney Bouchet also ran in the 3,000-meter steeplechase on Thursday at Mt. SAC, finishing fifth with a time of 10:38.88.
The combined events athletes also had a strong showing at the Mt. SAC Relays. Abrianna Torres placed seventeenth in the heptathlon elite section, and she recorded consistent marks throughout each event. In the shot put, Torres threw for 41-11.50, which was good for seventh place. In addition, she placed eighth in the long jump, leaping 19-7. In addition, she threw the javelin 122-0 to earn twelfth place.
On the men's side, Jason DeWitt finished fifth overall with a total of 6,724 points in the decathlon at Mt. SAC on Wednesday and Thursday. Brock Emory finished just behind him with a total of 6,663 points. In the high jump, the two athletes tied for first with a 6-8.75 jump. DeWitt finished third in the pole vault with a mark of 14-5.25. In addition, he tied for fourth in the shot put with a throw of 40-2. Emory finished fourth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.04. He also finished fifth in the discus with a throw of 120-7.
The Buffs will wrap up their competitions in California on Friday and Saturday as well with the Beach Invitational, Mt. SAC Relays and the Bryan Clay Invitational.
