Boyle, Scott Represent Colorado At Pac-12 Media Day
October 15, 2015 | Men's Basketball
Colorado head coach Tad Boyle and senior forward Josh Scott represented the Buffaloes at the 2015 Pac-12 Men's Basketball Media Days in San Francisco on Thursday.
Boyle and Scott met with conference beat writers and members of the national media including Westwood One, ESPN and FOX Sports. The duo also taped promos for the Pac-12 Network and Pac-12 Tournament while previewing the 2015-16 Buffaloes.
While both Boyle and Scott had a great time in the relaxed atmosphere of a preseason media day, both are ready to get down to business.
"I'm just ready to play," said Boyle in his press conference opening statement. "Last year when we were here everyone was blowing Colorado basketball up, and we had a disappointing year and now everybody has forgotten about us. So I just want to go out and play and see what we can do and see what kind of damage we can do in this league this year.
"It's going to be a much improved league. A more balanced league, a deeper league. I expect Colorado to be right in the mix of it."
Earlier in the day, Colorado was picked to finish seventh in the annual Pac-12 Preseason Media poll. The Buffaloes are coming off a 16-18 record and a trip to the quarterfinals of the CBI.
"(We) had to evaluate where we went wrong as a group," Scott said. "And in looking at it, we were afraid to call each other out...it's hard to call out a friend but you have to realize you have to be teammates and call each other out on our mistakes.
"In terms of carrying that over to this year, I've seen a whole lot more holding people accountable, people being more vocal, and I think that's just going to help us this year rather than how it hurt us last year."
Colorado will begin the 2015-16 with two big tests. First a neutral site game against former Big 12 Conference rival Iowa State, at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D., on Friday, Nov. 13 (3 p.m. MT, ESPN2). The Buffaleos then travel to Auburn; meeting the Tigers for a second-straight year in the ESPN College Hoops Tip-Off Classic on Tuesday, Nov. 17 (1 p.m. MT, ESPN).
Colorado will then play eight of its next nine at the Coors Events Center, beginning with Portland on Friday, Nov. 20, at 7 p.m.
