Buffs Starts Second Half Of Pac-12 Schedule At Home

BOULDER — The University of Colorado volleyball team will host Oregon State and Oregon this weekend at the Coors Events Center. The Buffs will face off against OSU on Friday, Oct. 30 and on Saturday, Oct. 31, CU will take on the Ducks.

Both matches are slated for 7 p.m. starts and will be streamed live on CUBuffs.com.

CU has several great promotions running for this weekend's matches. For Friday's match against Oregon State, kids of all ages can participate in Trick or Treat Street. Every child in costume (12 and under) who comes to the match with get a CU candy bag and will be able to travel around the concourse of the Coors Events Center getting candy from CU student-athletes.

On Saturday against Oregon, early arriving fans will receive a full size candy bar to start their trick-or-treating.

Colorado is 13-9 (5-5 Pac-12) after splitting a pair of matches last weekend in the desert. The Buffs won a 3-1 decision over No. 14 Arizona on Friday night before losing to No. 13 Arizona State on Saturday. The Buffs are sixth in the Pac-12 standings.

Senior Alexis Austin leads the Buffs with 3.99 kills per set (sixth in the Pac-12) and is also attacking at a .252 clip.  Sophomore Gabby Simpson ranks second on the team with 3.48 kills per set, while sophomore Anna Pfefferle is hitting a team-best .323. She has recorded 155 kills and 36 errors on 368 attacks this season. Senior Nicole Edelman is directing the team to a .233 hitting percentage. Edelman is averaging 9.71 assists per set (seventh in the Pac-12).

Defensively, junior Cierra Simpson is averaging 4.13 digs per set, which is sixth in the conference. She also ranks second in league only matches, averaging 4.95 digs per set. At the net, the Buffs are led by freshman Naghede Abu who is averaging 1.18 blocks per set, ninth in the conference. Pfefferle is second with 1.04 blocks per set.  

Oregon State finished the first half of the Pac-12 schedule with a 2-8 record, which is tied with California for 10th. Overall, OSU is sporting a 4-16 mark.

The Beavers are led by Mary-Kate Marshall, who ranks eighth in the league with 3.81 kills per set and is also eighth in the conference with 4.35 points per set. OSU is attacking at a .168 hitting percentage. Setter Dana Backlund is ninth in the conference with 8.71 assists per set. OSU's highest ranking in the league is eighth in blocks with 2.31; Haley Clarke leads the team with 1.04 bps. Kayla Ellis leads OSU with 2.99 digs per set, while Darby Reeder is averaging a 2.35 digs per set.

The Buffs lead the series against OSU 5-3. CU has won the last five meetings between the two teams.

Oregon has a 10-9 overall record and is 4-6 in Pac-12 play. The Ducks are tied for seventh in the league with Arizona. 

Offensively, Martenne Bettendorf leads the Ducks and is 10th in the league with 3.62 kills per set. Lindsey Vander Weide is second on the team with 3.20 kills per set. Maggie Scott is averaging 11.06 assists per set, which leads the league, and is directing the Ducks to a .242 hitting percentage. Amanda Benson ranks second overall in the conference with 4.46 digs per set. Kacey Nady is the Ducks leading blocker with 0.89 per set.

The Ducks lead the all-time series 9-3. CU snapped an eight-match losing streak to UO earlier this month with a 3-2 decision in Eugene, Ore.

Season tickets for the Buffs' home matches can still be purchased and start at just $25 for general admission. Reserved seats are $40 for the season. New this year is the Volleyball VIP Package which gives fans a reserved seat, access to VIP parking, pre-match chalk talks with the coaches, special entrance access and admission the volleyball banquet. Single match tickets are also available. General admission seats are $5 and reserved seats are $8. Kids 12 and under are free.

Fans can also purchase the Women's Sports Pass, which is new this season and supports women's basketball, soccer and volleyball. For just $125, over 50 percent off the single game box office price for those three sports, the Women's Sports Pass allows for seating in general admission areas at each venue for three of the most successful programs at CU. Once you purchase the pass, you will be mailed season tickets for all three sports.
