Buffs Face Arizona State and Arizona In Key Pac-12 Battles

BOULDER — The Pac-12 Conference season is winding down and the University of Colorado will host No. 21 Arizona State on Thursday, Nov. 12 and No. 19 Arizona on Saturday, Nov. 14 in a pair of key conference matches.  

Both matches are slated for 7 p.m. starts at the Coors Events Center and will be streamed live on CUBuffs.com.

There will be an alumni recognition on Saturday and it is Chip's Kids Club Night. Members of Chip's Kids Club are invited to Saturday's match to take part in pre-match activities such as: Meet & Greet with Chip, Face Painting, and Joining the Buffs on court for introductions.

Colorado enters the weekend with a 14-12 record (6-8 Pac-12) after going 0-2 last weekend. The Buffs started the weekend with a 3-0 loss at No. 9 UCLA and also lost 3-1 to No. 2 USC.

Senior Alexis Austin leads the Buffs with 3.99 kills per set (sixth in the Pac-12) and is also attacking at a .249 clip.  Sophomore Gabby Simpson ranks second on the team with 3.36 kills per set, while sophomore Anna Pfefferle is hitting a team-best .323. Senior Nicole Edelman is directing the team to a .231 hitting percentage, the sixth best in the Pac-12. Edelman is averaging 9.60 assists per set (eighth in the Pac-12).

Defensively, junior Cierra Simpson is averaging 4.08 digs per set, which is seventh in the conference. She also ranks second in league only matches, averaging 4.61 digs per set. Edelman is second with 2.10 digs per set. At the net, the Buffs are led by freshman Naghede Abu who is averaging 1.19 blocks per set, ninth in the conference. Pfefferle is second on the team with 0.99 blocks per set.

Arizona State, ranked 21st in the latest AVCA Poll, enters the match with an 18-7 overall record. The Sun Devils are 7-7 in the Pac-12 standings, which is fifth. This will be ASU's third trip to the state of Colorado this season. The Sun Devils played at Air Force the first weekend of the season and defeated AFA 3-0. The next weekend, ASU went north to play at Colorado State, defeating the Rams 3-0.

Arizona is currently 19th in the AVCA Poll and has a 16-10 record. The Wildcats are tied for sixth in the league with CU and Oregon (6-8).

Season tickets for the Buffs' home matches can still be purchased and start at just $25 for general admission. Reserved seats are $40 for the season. New this year is the Volleyball VIP Package which gives fans a reserved seat, access to VIP parking, pre-match chalk talks with the coaches, special entrance access and admission the volleyball banquet. Single match tickets are also available. General admission seats are $5 and reserved seats are $8. Kids 12 and under are free.

Fans can also purchase the Women's Sports Pass, which is new this season and supports women's basketball, soccer and volleyball. For just $125, over 50 percent off the single game box office price for those three sports, the Women's Sports Pass allows for seating in general admission areas at each venue for three of the most successful programs at CU. Once you purchase the pass, you will be mailed season tickets for all three sports.
