Orme?o Ruiz Comes Up Just Short In Upset Bid

FLUSHING, N.Y. - Colorado tennis player Nuria Ormeño Ruiz dropped her opening match at the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships on Thursday morning in Flushing, N.Y.

Ormeño Ruiz, a junior from Barcelona, Spain, fell 5-7, 7-6 (4), 6-3 to No. 2 seed Maegan Manasse from California in the Round of 32. Manasse is ranked No. 4 in the country.

Ormeño Ruiz is the first singles player in school history to compete at the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships.

Consolation matches will begin on Friday.
