Buffs Conclude Regular Season At Home

BOULDER — The University of Colorado volleyball team will close out the regular season with two home matches at the Coors Events Center.

The Buffs will face Washington State for the only time this season on Wednesday, Nov. 25, at 2 p.m. The match will be streamed online at CUBuffs.com.

CU will host Utah in the final match of the regular season on Friday, Nov. 27, at 12 p.m. That contest will be televised live on Pac-12 Networks. Colorado will celebrate the careers of seniors Alexis Austin and Nicole Edelman during the match against UU. It will be the final match the duo will play at the Coors Events Center. Early arriving fans will receive a CU rally towel.

CU is 17-13 (9-9 Pac-12) after splitting a pair of matches last weekend in Northern California and are fifth in the Pac-12 standings. The Buffs fell to No. 7 Stanford (3-1) on Thursday night and rebounded on Saturday, sweeping California 3-0. 

Austin leads the Buffs with 4.04 kills per set (fifth in the Pac-12) and is also attacking at a .259 clip.  Sophomore Gabby Simpson ranks second on the team with 3.36 kills per set, while sophomore Anna Pfefferle is hitting a team-best .338, ninth best in the conference. Edelman is directing the team to a .233 hitting percentage, the fifth best in the Pac-12. Edelman is averaging 9.88 assists per set (sixth in the Pac-12).

Defensively, junior Cierra Simpson is averaging 4.09 digs per set, which is seventh in the conference. Edelman is second with 2.12 digs per set. At the net, the Buffs are led by freshman Naghede Abu who is averaging 1.17 blocks per set, ninth in the conference. 

Washington State is 16-14 overall and ranks ninth in the conference with a 5-13 mark. The Cougars are 3-8 in road matches this season. Kyra Holt leads the team and ranks sixth in the conference with 3.98 kills per set. McKenna Woodford is second on the team with 3.24 kills per set. Defensively, Kate Sommer is fifth in the league with 4.33 digs per set and Claire Martin ranks fourth with 1.31 blocks per set. The Buffs lead the all-time series against the Cougars at 7-2.

Utah is 10-19 this season and is 10th in the conference (4-14). The Utes have recorded a 5-8 road record this season and have gone 1-5 in the last six matches. Adora Anae is fourth in the conference with 4.23 kills per set and adds 3.32 digs per set, which also leads the Utes. Brenna Young is 10th in the league in blocks, averaging 1.11 per set. UU leads the all-times series against the Buffs at 8-6. The Utes defeated CU (3-1) to start the conference season back in September.
