November 24, 2015 | Football, Herbst Academic Center

BOULDER — The University of Colorado football team placed eight student-athletes on the 2015 Pac-12 Conference Football All-Academic teams, the conference released late Wednesday afternoon.

To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and appear in at least 50 percent of their team's games, unless injured or ill.

Senior wide receiver Nelson Spruce made the first-team for the second straight year, as he boasts a 3.64 grade point average in his double major, Finance and Administration.  He has now made the overall team four straight years, as he was a second-team choice as a redshirt freshman and as a sophomore.

Junior tailback Michael Adkins also made the first-team, despite being injured since the third week of the season; he owns a 3.38 GPA in Finance.  He was a second-team selection a year ago.   Junior defensive end Aaron Howard made the second-team as the unit's special teams performer, as he has been a member of CU's kickoff coverage unit since the middle of last season.

All three of the aforementioned made the Academic All-Colorado team last year, as selected by the state's chapter of the National Football Foundation, and will qualify again for the honor.
