GOLDEN, Colo. — University of Colorado freshmen Duane McClurkin Jr. finished second in the high jump to lead the Buffs on the final day of the Colorado School of Mines Alumni Classic on Saturday afternoon.

McClurkin recorded a mark of 6-9 in the high jump, which was good enough for the 12th spot on CU's all-time list.  He also raced in the 60-meter dash, running 7.10 to finish 10th overall.

One other man was in competition for the Buffs on Saturday.  Freshman De'Jour Plunkett-Elliott recorded a 44-11.75 mark in the triple jump.  It was the first triple jump of his collegiate career and was good for a fifth place finish.

On the women's side, freshman Maja Wichhart Donzo recorded a mark of 38-1.50 in the triple jump, putting her fourth all-time in CU history, as well as fourth at the meet. Wichhart Donzo also ran in the 60-meter hurdles where she recorded a time of 9.32, placing her 12th in the final standings.

Sophomore Rajon O'Quinn ran in the 60 and finished with a time of 7.95 for ninth place. Fellow sophomore Michaela Wenning ran the 60-hurdles in 9.78, placing her 18th.

The high jump was the busiest event for the Buffalo women.  Senior Kelsey English finished fourth with a mark of 5-5.  O'Quinn also jumped 5-5 but finished sixth after the tiebreaker.  Wenning also competed in the high jump and placed eighth with a jump of 5-3.

"It was another good day for us to shake off the rust,” assistant coach Lindsey Malone said.  “Duane jumped 6-9, and had some good attempts in the high jump.  In his 60-meter dash, his block slipped out, but he ran a 7.10 and will get quicker. Maja jumped over 38 feet in the triple jump, which is fourth all-time at CU.  DeJour competed in the triple jump after just two practices. Overall I'm happy with where everyone is right now. There is a lot of work to do, but there's still a lot of season left.”

The Buffs are now off for winter break, but will be back in action on January 8 at the U.S. Air Force Open meet.
