Colorado-Washington State Quotes
February 13, 2015 | Women's Basketball
Colorado Head Coach Linda Lappe
General
"We won that game because we defended and rebounded; it's really pretty simple. I think the rebounding piece of it is something we lacked up at their [Washington State's] place. Defensively, we've played them well both times. Really, how active we were on the defensive end, how excited we were to play defense. I felt everybody stepped up and did their job, both our starters and our players coming off of the bench and everybody in-between."
On Playing A Complete GameÂ
"We definitely played, almost, a complete game. The think I like about it is, probably our one down-segment was early in the second half, but I liked how we came back . We didn't let that affect us mentally. We really challenged them to keep fighting and to keep their focus. When you can do that as a player, when you can focus on just doing your job, the game becomes really simple. We have enough great players and a good enough defensive and offensive system to be able to win a lot of games. Right now it's just about narrowing our focus."
On Team's Defense
"We've had some really great games defensively, but we just couldn't finish our possessions. We just weren't active enough; all things we can control. We talked a lot this week about staying in the play. Keep making the offense guess where you are and what you're doing. Sometimes we're very predictable on defense and tonight we weren't that predictable. I thought we helped each other really well."
On Bench Play
"I thought everybody contributed. Obviously, we had a different starting lineup and different players coming off of the bench. It really wasn't about that. If you're an unselfish player, then it's not about who starts or who comes off of the bench or who finishes. It's about coming in and when your name is called, you're ready to play and you're ready to do your job. I thought everybody was ready to do their job. The starters got us started on a great note. The bench was ready when they came in."
On F. Zoe Beard- Fails and G. Brecca Thomas Starting
"We haven't won many games. At some point you change what you're doing. Brecca [Thomas] has had some good days of practice. The last couple weeks we haven't had good weeks of practice. I thought this week had a really good week of practice and those guys practice well. They were ready. Zoe Beard-Fails gets in extra workout after extra workout to make her ready. It's not necessarily about who starts. It's about what are we doing collectively and how are we complementing each other and how are we doing our job. That's really all that matters and everybody knows their role. I wouldn't say a role is coming off the bench versus being a starter. I think your role is doing what you need to do on the floor and everybody did what they needed to do on the floor."

General
"We had great team defense overall. The posts were doing a great job of helping off the guards but the guards also did a great job tonight playing one on one. Our defensive rebounds were great. We were getting out there and boxing out Mariah Cooks who killed us before. It was just a great team defensive game."
On Washington State's 32.8% Shooting Percentage
"They were uncomfortable a lot of the time and I feel like they just got a lot of shots up in transition."
On The Team's Tendency To Foul Washington State A Lot
"It wasn't a thing that we talked about a lot. It was just keeping our hands up and don't touch them if the refs are going to call every foul. That wasn't really a focus. It was just playing defense and staying steady."
On What Changed In Today's Game
"Lately we've been focusing on us and not who we're playing. When we step on that floor, we're going to focus on who we're playing. I feel like we did that and just played team defense, played together and did our own thing."
On The Impact Of This Game
"Washington State is a great team and they have great players and a great coaching staff. This just gives us confidence as a building block for next Sunday against Washington and forward."

On Her Career High 11 Points
"I didn't play that much in the last game so it was kind of hard for me to come in today. But, we stepped up as a team and only because my teammates had my back, I was able to perform like this."
