Sanchez Adds Portland Transfer Evans To 2015 Roster

BOULDER – University of Colorado head soccer coach Danny Sanchez has announced that Danica Evans will join the Buffaloes' roster for the 2015-16 season. Evans will be a junior next season after playing her first two years at the University of Portland.
“We are very pleased that Danica will be joining our university and soccer program,” said Sanchez. “With us losing five starters from last year's squad, we feel that she can come in and have an immediate impact."
Evans, a Littleton, Colo. native turned in two solid seasons as a member of the Pilots. During her 2014-15 campaign, Evans played in 18 matches, starting each time and tallied a team-best 17 points with seven goals and three assists. She also registered an impressive 42 shots with half of them being on frame. An All-West Coast Conference Honorable Mention in her freshman season, the 5-6, forward started all 21 matches. She notched five goals and seven assists, totaling 17 points, which ranked ninth in the WCC. Her seven assists was tied for first on the team and ranked second in the league. Evans also shined in Portland's NCAA Tournament appearance, scoring the game-winner to defeat Seattle in the first round and she scored a goal and recorded one assist in the Pilot's second round contest.
The new Buff also has extensive experience playing at the club level. Evans played for the Colorado Edge and Colorado Rush club teams where she helped the Rush win the state cup in 2008 and 2010. From 2009-2012, she competed in the Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) with the Rush and was the national scoring leader in back-to-back seasons from 2012-13, registering 40 goals both times. Her stellar performance helped her U-18 Rush team finish second in the nation in 2013 and was named the State Cup MVP in 2012. In the summer of 2014, she scored 13 goals and 29 points in only 12 matches for the Rush en route to the W-League's Scoring Champion and Golden Boot titles. Evans was also invited to compete at the U-17 Women's National Team Camp in 2012 and U-18 Women's National Team Camp in 2013.
A graduate of Lakewood High School, Evans was a four-year letterwinner for the Tigers and was a two-time leading goal scorer (2009, '12) on her way to being named team MVP and earning a spot on the All-Jefferson County League First Team, both as a senior. She also earned all-conference second team honors during her sophomore season. In addition to soccer, Evans lettered in gymnastics, and helped her team to the State Championship in 2009 and received all-conference honors.
Evans plans to major in sociology at Colorado.
