Colorado at Seattle University Post Game Quotes
March 24, 2015 | Men's Basketball
Colorado Head Coach Tad Boyle
General
"Great opportunity, we had the game under control, we had the lead. We hit three big threes to go up. Bottom line is they hit 60% and we turned it over eight times. We got to the free throw line, but we turned it over three times in a row. What you find this time of the year is the things that hurt you all year are the things that are going to kill you."
On Difference In The Game
"Seattle played like a hungry dog, they're playing like they don't want their season to end. You realize now why schools like the University of Colorado don't go on the road to schools like Seattle University. But that's why we wanted to play in this tournament, hopefully we will learn from it."
On Next Year's Team And The Players Coming Back
"We have a good core group of guys, I'm really confident in Josh Scott and our core. Xavier Johnson, we know he can play at the highest level, but the question is consistency. We have four very talented good players joining us next year. Our guard play has to get better. You cannot go into a place like Seattle, playing against the zone, and have 14 turnovers. You can't do that."
On What Specifically Needs To Improve
"We have to get tougher, we have to get more consistent. We have to play smarter, and our skill level has to get better when it comes to ball control. "
On The Message He Told The Team In The Locker Room
"To a man, the guys in that locker room have to get better before next season. We have to find a motivating factor, because just because we're a year older doesn't mean we're a year better, and we found that out this year. Last year, I tried to use the Pittsburgh score to motivate us and that fell flat as a pancake. We weren't good enough to win on the road in the Western Athletic Conference, and we know we have to beat teams in the Pac-12 on the road, hopefully that can motivate and bring the reality of where some of our players are right now and where they need to be, which is we have to get better."
