Zech Wins At DU's Individual Golf Event

HIGHLANDS RANCH - Junior Allie Zech of the University of Colorado women's golf team shot a 1-under par to win at the University of Denver's individual tournament this weekend, held at the Pioneers' 6,409-yard, par-72 Highlands Ranch Golf Club.
The single-round tournament featured eight players in the field. Junior Megan Haase and redshirt freshman Tori Glenn also competed for Colorado. The host, Pioneers had four players participate and the University of New Mexico had one.
"I am glad Allie, Megan and Tori had another opportunity to compete and I am happy for Allie earning the win," said Colorado head coach Anne Kelly.
Zech won the tournament posting a 71, two strokes better than second place finisher Isabel Southard from Denver, who was 1-over par with a 73. Zech's round included a birdie on the par-5 second hole and an eagle on the back nine, No. 11, also a par-5.
Haase carded a 7-over, 79 to finish in seventh for the Buffaloes and Glenn took eighth with an 81 or 9-over par round.
The Buffs return to action on Monday, April 13, when they co-host the second annual Silverado Showdown with the University of Oregon in Napa, Calif.
