Hopkins Leaving CU Men's Basketball

BOULDER - University of Colorado sophomore Jaron Hopkins is leaving the men's basketball team, announced Wednesday morning by CU head coach Tad Boyle.

"Jaron has decided to transfer from the University of Colorado," Boyle said. "We appreciate all what he has done for our program in the last two years. We wish Jaron all the best in his future endeavors."

Hopkins played in 67 games during his two years with the Buffaloes averaging 5.3 points and 2.9 rebounds per game.  This past season, the Mesa, Ariz. native established career numbers in points (187), rebounds (107), assists (42) and steals (32) for a CU team that finished 16-18 overall with a CBI quarterfinal appearance.

The sophomore guard also played a season high 670 minutes, in addition to 17 starts during the 2014-15 campaign.

Hopkins is a communication major.
