Third Round Of NCAA Golf Championships Suspended
May 31, 2015 | Men's Golf
BRADENTON, Fla. – The third round of the NCAA Championship Finals was suspended due to lightning, with play cancelled for the remainder of the day; 45 golfers were still on the course with anywhere from one-to-five holes left to play.
Included in that group is CU senior David Oraee; he has four holes remaining and is 6-over par for the round (18-over for the tournament); the 156-man field (30 teams, six individuals) will be cut to the low 15 teams and the nine individuals who are not associated with those teams. Oraee at this point likely will not advance to the fourth and final round, which will start Monday after the completion of the third; he opened with rounds of 71-85.
Georgia leads Southern California by three strokes with both teams still out on the course. The top eight teams after the final round will advance into match play.
Play will resume at 5 a.m. MDT Monday the Concession Golf Club in this Sarasota, Fla., suburb.
