Pearson Finishes 17th In 5k

EUGENE, Ore. – University of Colorado runner Morgan Pearson finished his junior season placing 17th overall in the 5,000-meter run on Friday night at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
Pearson clocked in at 14:21.10 after running second for over half of the race. The field was running a nice comfortable pace after the first kilometer and came through 2k at 5:41, but the pace quicken with three laps to and Pearson was unable to keep up with the leaders and dropped back to finish the race 17th.
As a team, Colorado finished the meet tied for 51st with 5.0 points from junior Pierce Murphy's fifth place finish in the 10,000-meter run on Wednesday night.
Senior Sara Sutherland will compete in the final event for the Buffs on Saturday in the women's 1,500 meter finals. The race will be televised live at 3:15 p.m. on ESPN2.
