Vance Qualifies For USGA Girls' Junior Championship

CENTENNIAL - Incoming University of Colorado freshman Gillian Vance finished tied for first in the United States Golf Association Junior Girls Qualifier on Monday, advancing to compete in the 2015 U.S. Girls Junior Championship next month.
Vance secured one of the four qualifying spots by shooting a 74 or 2-over par as she finished in a three-way tie for first place at Valley Country Club in Centennial, Colo. This marks the second consecutive year Vance will be competing in the Junior Girls Championship, also earning a spot in 2014. The newest Buff turned in a solid performance with 16 pars and only two bogeys in the 18-hole tournament. She opened with three straight pars, then went plus-1 after a bogey on the par 3, No. 4. Vance followed with back-to-back pars on Nos. 5 and 6 and a bogey on the seventh hole to go to 2-over. She had a strong finish to solidify her place at the top of the leaderboard, shooting even-par over her remaining 11 holes.
The Championship event will take place July 20-25 at the Tulsa Country Club in Tulsa, Okla.
