Volleyball: Getting to Know Freshman Aidan Lea

August 13, 2015 | Volleyball

The 2015 season is just around the corner and it's time to get to know our freshmen. First is Aidan Lea, a middle blocker from Kelowna, B.C.

Question: What are you looking forward to most this upcoming season as a freshman?

A: Competing in the PAC 12 and playing alongside and against the top athletes in the nation.

Q: Looking at the four non-conference tournaments, which opponent are you looking forward to playing most and why?

A: For pre-season, I am most looking forward to playing Penn State at Penn State. It's going to be an incredible experience to play one of the top teams right off the bat.

Q: The Pac-12 is always a tough conference to play in with many perennial powerhouses. Which team(s) are you most excited about playing and why?

A: I am most excited about playing UW because of our incredible match against them last season- it's going to be a major battle and I can't wait to see that.

Q: Why did you chose to play volleyball at Colorado?

A: I decided to come to CU after my first visit here, because of the team culture (which is awesome) and the seriousness of the program. It's a pretty incredible feeling to look around a gym and know that every single coach and player is ready to give their all for a national championship.

Q: What do you think is going to be the biggest difference between high school and college volleyball?

A: Definitely the pace of the game- being a MB, reading and reacting as fast as possible is vital, and everything moves so much faster at this level.

Q: If you could play another sport besides volleyball in college, what would it be and why?

A: If I was playing any other college sport, I would have liked to do high jump. I've always loved track but volleyball won out.
