Lee To Compete In U.S. Women's Amateur Championship

PORTLAND –University of Colorado golfer Esther Lee will hit the links on Monday, Aug. 10 to compete in the United States Golf Association Women's Amateur Championship.
Lee qualified for the U.S. Women's Amateur last month when she shot a 70 and finished third place overall at the Heritage Golf Course at Westmoor in Westminster, Colo. She was one of eight golfers from the sectional qualifier to secure a place in this week's tournament.
The field is comprised of 156-players, ranging from its youngest, 14 years old to a pair in their 50s. It will be held at the 6,360 yard, par 72 Portland Golf Club in Portland, Ore. marking the third time the club has hosted a USGA Championship. The week-long tournament gets underway Monday, Aug. 10 and concludes Sunday, Aug. 16. Lee's first round tee time is set for 10:20 a.m. MDT from the 10th hole.

Monday, Aug. 10 – First round, stroke play
Tuesday, Aug. 11 – Second round, stroke play (field reduced to 64 players for match play)
Wednesday, Aug. 12 – First round, match play
Thursday, Aug. 13 – Second and third rounds, match play
Friday, Aug. 14 – Quarterfinal round, match play
Saturday, Aug. 15 – Semifinal round, match play
Sunday, Aug. 16 – 36-hole championship final, match play
Lee, a Los Alamitos, Calif. native will begin her junior year this fall for the black and gold. She turned in a record-breaking season as a sophomore, earning 10 top 20 finishes, tied for second most all-time in one season and finished the spring with a school record 72.25 stroke average. She also earned her first career medalist honors this past spring, when she tied a school record 206 at the Bay Area Intercollegiate in Fairfax, Calif. Additionally, Lee helped lead the Buffs to a program-best fifth place finish at the Pac-12 Championships and 11 top 10 team finishes.
The U.S. Women's Amateur Championship will be televised once match-play begins on Wednesday, Aug. 12 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. MDT on Fox Sports 1. Bonus coverage will also be live streamed on usga.org the final four days (Aug. 13-16) from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. MDT.
