COACH ELLIOTT ON CASTILLO: “Sophie is a strong and powerful athlete. She is a competitor and tough mentally, always pushing herself to the next level. Sophie had a great high school career and can create many opportunities offensively using her power and quickness. I am excited to watch Sophie continue to develop and grow here at CU.”

HIGH SCHOOL:
Castillo earned four letters on her lacrosse team at Parkland High School in Allentown, Penn., tallying 271 career goals and 114 career assists. She was named league MVP and Morning Call Player of the Year her sophomore, junior and senior seasons. Castillo played on the 2014 League and District Champion teams and the 2015 League Champion team and holds the record for most goals and assists in the district. In addition to lacrosse, she played basketball as a shooting guard.

IN THE CLASSROOM:
Castillo is currently an open option major.

PERSONAL:
Sophia Dominique Castillo was born in Charlotte, N.C. on October 3, 1996 to parents Dan and Michelle Castillo. Castillo loves snowboarding and Chinese food. Her favorite athlete is Alex Morgan of the U.S. Women's National Soccer Team and her grandfather, Fabio Castillo, played on Columbia's national soccer team. After graduation, Castillo hopes to become a sports broadcaster.
