January 28, 2016 | Lacrosse
BOULDER – The University of Colorado lacrosse team added a new member to its team on Thursday. The Buffaloes adopted Levi, a 7-year-old, who is recovering from treatments for brain cancer. A native of Kansas, his family has temporarily relocated to the Denver area to be closer to treatments at Children's Hospital.
Levi joined the Buffs for practice, meeting his new teammates and learning how to pick up a ground ball and score a goal. Levi's brother Isaac and sisters Abby and Mariah were also welcomed to the team and impressed with their lacrosse skills.
When asked what his favorite moment of his first day as a CU lacrosse team member, he said meeting Chip, CU's mascot. He also enjoyed scoring goals and said he had a good time.
A photo gallery of his first practice is available on Facebook on the CU lacrosse page (/cubuffswlax).
The Buffs will open the 2016 season on Feb. 12 at the University of Denver at 3 p.m.
