QUOTABLE:
Jesse Mahoney, head coach
On 100th win as a DI coach
"It just means I'm getting older in general, the longer you coach you get lucky enough to win. It's nice to hit milestones like that, I've been really lucky to coach really good players and a lot of really talented people on the staffs I have worked on, whether I am the head or the assistant coach. We don't really worry about the results, we just want to get better throughout the process and hopefully keep hitting more milestones. I am really focused on tomorrow. We have got to play well tomorrow night."
On His Thoughts About The Match
"We played really clean for two sets, and then I thought we were all over the place for the other two. Unfortunately, that's been us in a nutshell this season. Oregon State has one elite player and some other very good players. They had a really nice game plan that they stuck with for all four sets. When we slowed them down on the right side, we ran points and when we didn't that's when we put ourselves in a hole. It was flashes of really good play and then flashes of not."
On Fighting Through A Sloppy Set To Win
"It was good for us. You never like to be in a hole, but when you climb back out of it, it's a good experience that you can learn from. We made some really nice plays from 20 on and that's good to see. We finished on a good note."
On Having Six Players Having Between Six And 14 Kills
"In a six-two, if we can have many players get an even amount of swings -in a perfect world-that's what we want to do. It never works out that way, our lefts are going to take them and our lefts took 38 swings tonight. If we can get more swings to our middles and our right sides, we're a better team for it. Our lefts do a really nice job of putting too much on themselves and we need to find a way to lighten the load."
Joslyn Hayes, Outside Hitter
On Returning After Missing The Past Three Matches
"It felt super great. I was really well rested so that helped. It was first game back adrenaline more so than anything and my teammates were all very supportive and excited. I'm excited and I just wanted to get back on the court, so it was a lot of excitement."
On the quick turnaround this weekend
"It's just immediate preparation. It is so nice is that we can take a lot the stuff from this match and immediately apply it to the next match. We don't have a day to draw ourselves out. It is so nice, with the quick turnaround, that immediately after the match, it was like, ok take what we learned from this, those two sloppy sets; what can we fix and now let us apply that to the game against Oregon."
With the win, the Buffs improved to 12-7 this season, 4-5 in Pac-12 play, while OSU is now 8-12 overall, 1-8 in the Pac-12.
