Buffs Selected For Third NCAA Tournament In Past Four Seasons

INDIANAPOLIS - Colorado's women's soccer team was selected for the NCAA Tournament on Monday and will host Oklahoma State on Saturday in the first round. Kickoff for that match is slated for 12 p.m. at Prentup Field. Tickets will cost $7 for adults and $3 for CU students and children 12-and-under.
"We're very excited to have an opportunity to be back in the NCAA Tournament," head coach Danny Sanchez said. "For our group of seniors that have made the Tournament three out of four years, it's a great accomplishment for them. There are a lot of great teams around the country that don't have this opportunity. We're very pleased to be back in and pleased to have an opportunity to host Oklahoma State on Saturday."
This will be CU's ninth NCAA Tournament appearance in the 21st year of the program. The Buffs are 7-8-1 all-time in the postseason and have reached the third round twice.
Colorado is making its third appearance in the past four seasons under Sanchez, who is in his fifth season in Boulder. Under Sanchez, the team is 3-2-0 in the NCAA Tournament. He has a career record of 20-4-3 in the NCAA Tournament, including his six seasons in NCAA Division II when he won a pair of national championships at Metro State in Denver.
Sanchez's CU squad reached the third round in 2013 with wins over Denver and BYU in the first two rounds. CU defeated BYU 2-0 in the first round in 2014 before falling in overtime at North Carolina in the second round.
Colorado (14-5-1) is ranked No. 22 in the latest top-25 poll and finished tied for second in the Pac-12 with an 8-2-1 conference record.
The Cowgirls finished the regular season 9-8-3 overall and were tied for fifth in the Big 12 with a 3-4-1 conference mark.
