Holland Advances To 60-Meter Final At Don Kirby Invite

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — University of Colorado sophomore Ana Holland yet again set a personal record on Friday at the 2016 Don Kirby Collegiate Invitational, running the 60-meter dash in 7.46 seconds, winning her heat and qualifying for Saturday's semifinals.
Holland, who is now CU's second fastest 60-meter performer, finished eighth overall in the preliminary race of the 60. She also competed in the 200-meters, where she finished 14th overall with a time of 24.08, the fourth overall fastest 200 time for a Buff.
Sophomore Alex Peters also raced in the 200 and placed 28th overall, clocking in with a time of 24.54 to put her sixth on CU's all-time performers list.
The men had several sprinters competing as well. In the 60-meter hurdle preliminary round, freshman Alexander Billing set a PR of 8.25 to finish 11th and qualify for Saturday's semifinals.
In the 200, freshman Duane McClurkin Jr. set a PR of 21.51, coming in ninth for a top ten finish. The time put him eighth on CU's performers list. Junior Austin Mitsch ran the race in 21.61 for his own personal best mark, which was good for a 15th place finish.
CU also had competitors in the field events. Sophomore Andrew Ghizzone set a personal record in the pole vault, finishing 12th after clearing of 15-11.75, which placed him seventh on CU's all-time performers list.
The women had a solid finish in the high jump as three athletes jumped 5-6.50. Sophomore Rajon O'Quinn and senior Kelsey English tied for seventh, while senior Abrianna Torres tied for 11th.
The Don Kirby Collegiate Invitational continues on Saturday.
