Four Buffs Earn Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention

BOULDER – A quartet of Buffaloes on the University of Colorado women's basketball team were recognized for their academic achievement on Thursday as each were named a Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention, the league office announced.
Juniors Zoe Beard-Fails and Haley Smith received honorable mention for the second consecutive year while sophomores Zoe Correal and Brecca Thomas earned honorable mention in their first season of All-Academic team eligibility.
Smith, a native of Sammamish, Wash., is majoring in mechanical engineering and owns a 3.67 GPA. In her third season for the Buffs, the 6-1 wing started 29 games and averaged career-highs in points (10.7 ppg) and rebounds (5.7 rpg), She also recorded a team-leading .459 field goal percentage and .881 free throw percentage.
Beard-Fails, a 6-1 forward from Herndon, Va., is an advertising major and holds a 3.40 GPA. During the 2015-16 season, she averaged 3.8 points and 2.9 rebounds over 27 games played.
Correal, a 6-4 center and San Francisco, Calif. native carries a 3.28 GPA while majoring in psychology. During her sophomore campaign, Correal played in all 30 games and made a career-high 15 starts. She averaged 2.1 points, 3.2 rebounds and finished second on the team with 18 blocks.
Thomas is a strategic communication major, sporting a 3.34 GPA. The 5-5 guard from Stafford, Texas finished her second year at Colorado averaging 3.5 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 30 games played.
All-academic team selections must have a 3.0 GPA or better and appear in at last half of their team's games.
